The long tradition of the American Embassies

The first three countries which recognized the United States as an independent power were Marocco, France and the Netherlands. Subsequently,Benjamin Franklin established the first overseas mission with France in 1779. The first American Embassy was then built in the Netherlands in the City of The Hague in 1782 with John Adams being the first U.S. Ambassador. Since then, various embassies have been founded.
