H-2B cap for first half of 2009 has been reached

USCIS announced that it will accept no more petitions for H-2B visa for people who wish to start employment in the US before April 1, 2009. The congressionally mandated cap of 33,000 for one half of the fiscal year has been met (A total of 66,000 visas are available every year). This does not concern any applications by people who already have the H-2B status and want to, for example, extend their stay in the US or change employment.
