Fingerprints upon admission Due to their constant fear of terrorist attacks, the US want to tighten controls for foreign visitors starting January 2004. They are planning security checks for each visitor, taking fingerprints, a photo, and check their data against some terrorist databases. For those travelers traveling under the Visa Waiver Program, only a passport with biometric data is required (we informed about those already). According to Asa Hutchinson of the Department of Homeland Security, simple measures such as these could have prevented the September 11 attacks. According to experts, bar codes and special chips in the passports are supposed to make identification easier.

Forgot to turn in your arrival record upon departure? Sometimes, during the chaos of departure, you may forget to turn in the lower part of you arrival/departure record attached to your passport. If the departure record of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration (BCIS), i.e. the Form I-94 (white) or I-94W (green) has not been removed from your passport that means that your departure has not been correctly recorded. In that case BCIS might come to the conclusion that you have overstayed your granted period in the US. If that happens, your visa may be invalidated the next time you try to enter the US or you may even be sent back to your home country.

So please remember to turn in this card at check-in or, if you forget, on board the plabe to the flight attendant.
