Green card lottery update
New dates and regulations for the lottery DV-2007
The US government finally announced the new regulations for the green card lottery DV-2007 on September 21, 2005. As THE AMERICAN DREAM has reported for years, the application deadlines may be changed at any time. This year, the lottery is one month earlier than in the previous years. The official deadline by which applications have to be submitted to the US authorities is already at the beginning of December, so that THE AMERICAN DREAM has set its deadline for November 30, 2005. We will accept applications until this date and guarantee to forward all of them correctly and in due time, including digitalized paper photos.
The regulations are the same as last year with the exception of a few details, which we will, of course, strictly observe. The probably most important change, apart from the change of the application deadline, is the exclusion of people born in Poland.
Poland excluded
This was to be expected due to the high immigration rates from Poland over the past years and might even slightly improve the chances of other European applicants, since many people from Poland have participated over the last years and many green cards of the European contingent went to Poland.
Bad news for anyone born in Poland. This also applies to all persons who were in present day Poland at the time it still belonged to Germany. Therefore, all people who have been born in East Prussia, Upper Silesia etc before 1945 may NOT participate in the lottery, even if they have been German citizens all their life.
This has already happened a few years ago, when Poland had been excluded before. Many of our customers complained about this at the time. However, the US regulations define birth country by the currently existing borders!
According to the Native Country regulations, people born in Poland may only participate if their spouses have been born in the area of present-day Germany or in another qualifying country.
All of our customers born in Poland who are excluded due to the new regulations will be notified in the next few days, and their participation fees will, of course, be fully refunded. You don't have to contact us, we will contact you.
Easier customer registration
We also have good news, however. Already since the beginning of this year, we offer a comfortable portal for all our regular customers. This is for all customers who have participated in the last two years and have received an access code for this. They may register at the special discount price of only €34.
Within the past weeks, we have worked tirelessly in order to provide the same kind of service for our new customers as well. And we were successful - effective immediately, you may register online and have access to all your data at any time. You may view your photos online and update any address changes immediately. Please understand that any paper photos you have submitted will not be available online before the middle of October.
Anyone whose data is already online at THE AMERICAN DREAM from the previous years may log in with his or her customer ID and register even more easily.
Of course your data will be protected and not forwarded to third parties. An encrypted, secure page is available for money transfer. Your payment data will not be stored online. You can only access your account with your customer ID, your name AND birthday. Registration at THE AMERICAN DREAM has never been more easy and comfortable!
We are looking forward to the new lottery and wish all our participants good luck for this year!
Sincerely yours,
THE AMERICAN DREAM - green card team
