Full-Body Scanners on Airports
On December 25th, 2009, a Nigerian passenger attempted to blow up a Northwestern Airlines flight after he succeeded in bringing explosive powder onto the airplane. Luckily nothing serious happened. But this attempt brought up great discussions about the so called "full body scanners".
According to the "usatoday" Gullop pool, 78% of the participants approve of the government's use of body scanners, even if the machines compromise privacy.
About 300 body scanners will be installed at the largest airports in the USA within this year and they will replace the metal detectors. Those machines can reveal plastics and powders to screeners and the monitors will be placed in a closed room.
Most people are ok with the body scanners (even if they take away part of everyone's privacy) and are convinced that the body scanners will help to stop terrorism.
