What type of training is possible with the H-3?

Unfortunately, not all types of US training programs are eligible for this category. Only two types of training qualify for this category at all:

  1. Special education programs for the education of children with physical, mental or emotional disabilities

Program sponsors for special education programs are usually institutions with specially trained staff and structured program that focus on both the theory and practice portion of the job.

  1. Politics and business

Program sponsors for training programs in the business or political sector are usually private businesses or governmental organizations.

PLEASE NOTE: Medical training, e.g. for doctors, is not possible with the H-3 status!

One of the basic eligibility criteria for this program is to demonstrate that the respective type of training is not offered in the beneficiary’s home country, e.g. with a written note by official organizations, such as the camber of industry and commerce, unions, or the department of labor in the beneficiary’s home country. If your kind of training is not eligible for the H-3 status, have a look at the J-1 category as an alternative.
