New Visa Fee
All US travelers who have applied for a visa and now have to schedule their interview at the US consulate will have to pay €74 instead of €80 as of November 1, 2007. Prices have been adjusted to the currently weak US-Dollar. For details about the scheduling of interview appointments, please check the website of your local US consulate.
H-2B Cap Reached for First Half of 2008
US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will accept no further H-2B petitions for the first half of 2008. Enough petitions have been received for the 33,000 available visas in the first half of 2008 for an employment start date on or after April 1. H-2B petitions for the second half of 2008, however, may still be submitted. Another 33,000 visas will be available for that period. New Address for Humanitarian Parole
According to USCIS, there is a new address for applications for the so-called "humanitarian parole." It is: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, ATTN: Chief, International Operations Division (Humanitarian Parole), 20 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Suite 3300 Washington, DC 20529.
Applications include form I-131 as well as all necessary documentation and a fee of $305. Humanitarian parole allows people in extraordinary situations who are otherwise inadmissible to temporarily stay in the US.
