USCIS offers special service for soldiers
Members of the US military and their families who are stationed around the world will from now on be able to call US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) via a service number specially set up for them. On the phones of the free service number 1-877-247-4645 are specialists who will help the soldiers answer any questions about the current status of naturalization applications (form N-400), email address updates, or the immigration of wives, fiancées, or adopted children. USCIS specialists can be reached Monday through Friday between 8am and 4:30pm. Out-of-hours, the soldiers will hear a message giving them the email address to which they may submit their questions or information. Still no premium processing for I-140
Premium processing service for form I-140 (Immigrant Petition for Alien Workers) that had been suspended by USCIS at the beginning of July, will continue to be unavailable indefinitely. The service had been suspended due to the quickly rising number of I-140 petitions that had requested the service.
Premium Processing costs $1,000 and guarantees preliminary processing within 15 calendar days. This does not mean USCIS will approve or deny the application within that time, but the applicant will be contacted if, for example, some documents are missing or USCIS has any further questions concerning the application.
