Can I start working for a US company with the C-1/D Visa?

Strictly speaking, the C-1/D category is not a work visa. It simply allows you to work for a company based outside the US – and work for them inside the US.

C-1/D visa holders are thus not permitted to work for a US-American employer. If this is your plan, you will have to apply a work visa (H, L or E-visa).
