Many people dream about becoming a US citizen. But how would it change your life and how can you receive the US citizenship?

To become a citizen, you must be willing to swear your loyalty to the United States. You must give up your allegiance to any other country and you must agree to support and defend the US Constitution. By obtaining the US citizenship, you accept all of the responsibilities of being an American and you get certain rights and privileges of citizenship. Did you know that only US citizens can vote in federal elections and can serve on a federal jury?

As a US citizen you will receive a US passport and will be able to bring family members to the US. Kids of a US citizen will receive the US citizenship as well.
Only citizens can run for federal office (US Senate or House of Representatives) and certain jobs with government agencies require US citizenship.

Green card winners can apply for the US citizenship if they meet the following requirements.
You have to live in the US for at least five years as a permanent resident (or three years if married to and living with a US citizen) and you have to be present in the US for at least 30 months out of the past five years (or 18 months out of the past three years if married to and living with a US citizen). Furthermore you have to live within a state or USCIS district for at least three months before you apply.
