Entry Visas

A journey to the United States must be thoroughly prepared. Because there are many different purposes and reasons for traveling to America, there are several kinds of Entry Visas one can apply to, always according to the circumstances of the visit and stay.

Visas for the USA - Travel or work?

Those who want to spend their holidays or visit their relatives in the United States only need a restricted stay permit that ends at the date of their return flight. If a traveler's home country is part of the so called “Wave-Visa-Program” or “WVP” he or she doesn't need any kind of Entry Visas as long as he or she restricts the journey to a length of 90 days. If a longer stay, up to 180 days, is planned or his or her home country does not belong to those in the WVP, the traveler needs to apply for a Business Visitor/ Tourist visa.

Those who want to work in the USA for a determined period of time also need a working permission, limited to the durance of their stay, which is added to their Entry Visas.

Permanent Residency

But what about those who want to stay permanently in the United States? This problem is easily solved by applying for a Green Card, whether directly or by participating in the American Green Card Lottery. Everybody who obtains a Green Card is free to enter the USA, for whatever legal reason, without applying for any of the different Entry Visas, as well as his or her spouse and underaged children.
