Green Card Marriage

One of the most common ways to receive a permanent residential permission for the United States is to marry an American citizen and get a conditional Green Card .

Marriage for Green Card? Not as easy as it sounds

So although it sounds like it, Green Card Marriage is no free-entry ticket to the United States but results in a time-consuming procedure connected with a complex bureaucratic process which can finally lead to the reception of a permanent Green Card.

All in all, Green Card Marriage does not prevent anybody from filling out  the piles of  forms needed to apply for a Green Card. Contrariwise, by choosing a Green Card Marriage the applicant has to additionally face a so called USCIS or green card interview. Such an interview is held by an INS agent at a local USCIS office and serves different purposes. The agent asks the applicant questions about his or her life, work, interests and other doings to gain certain information an to decide, whether the applicant's request is viable or he or she presents a threat to the safety and security of the United States.

Another crucial reason for holding such inquiries is that although most Green Card Marriage applications are real, a small percentage are based on fake/sham marriages which were performed for the sake of being guaranteed a residential permission.
It should be noticed that the request for a permanent Green Card is denied if the applicant fails or misses this insistent interview.
In general, Green Card Marriage is no easy alternative for receiving a permanent residential permission for the United States. Whoever wants to go the less demanding way should take part in the official lottery for green cards.
