H3 Visa

If someone decides to go to the United States of America the first decision they have to make is what kind of visa to apply for. No matter what type of visa, they all require the applicant to fill out several forms concerning eligibility. The main difference is between temporary, or non-immigrant, visas and immigrant visas. Temporary visas are intended for tourists who can stay in the United States for up to 90 days.

Immigrant visas are for people who decide to stay in the United States for a longer amount of time, possibly forever, because they plan to work there if they get their Green Card. The categories for these different types of visas are numerous. The visa for so-called “temporary workers” or “trainees” is the H3 Visa. The H3 Visa enables the holder to work in the United States for a limited amount of time, for example if a European student is working as an industrial trainee for a few months.

Only the first step to a Green Card

It is a permission to work – but the H3 Visa does not equal an American Green Card, even though it can possibly be applied for because of a paid job. The main condition for receiving an H3 Visa is that the trainee-program or temporary job helps the person to increase their level of qualification regarding their job “back home” in a way that is not possible there. An application for an H3 visa is possible anytime.
