If I am already in the US, can I still change to E-status?
Changing to the E-status is generally possible, provided the applicant is already holding a valid US visa – however, not all nonimmigrant visas allow for a status change. Please make sure to find out about the conditions of your visa first.
Generally speaking, it is not advisable to apply for a status change within the US. Since it is always the US consulate in the applicant’s home country that is primarily in charge of handling E-visa applications, we highly recommend to get advice there first.
