Immigration Visas

There are many different types of Immigration Visas for the United States of America, each for a different intention regarding immigration. While there are several types of non-immigrant or temporary visas, the Immigration Visas are divided into several categories as well. A candidate applying for one of these Immigration Visas, either by going through the official process or by entering the Green Card lottery, has to make sure what kind of visa is the right one for their situation.

Different visa categories

One category are visas for family-based immigration, like those for spouses of United States citizens and their children. Another category are those like the DV-1 and DV-2 visas won through the DV Green Card Lottery, the first one for the winner and the second one for immediate family members. The IR1-3 visas are for immediate relatives of a citizen of the United States. There are also Immigration Visas for immigration work that enable the applicant to work for an American company, often especially qualified persons of national interest, and thus qualify for a Green Card or visas for investors.

Pick the right visa

Only if someone qualifies for one of these Immigration Visas and only if they can prove their eligibility they are free to enter the United States of America and eventually become holders of an American Green Card as well as permanent residents of the US.
