Travel Visas

The United States of America are a land of countless opportunities and possibilities. From big, hectic cities like New York City or Los Angeles to deserts, forests or monuments like the Grand Canyon – tourists are sure to see a lot. But in order to enter the United States for a longer period of time one needs to apply for a Travel Visa, unless ones home country belongs to those in the so-called “Visa Waiver Program”.

Different requirements for entering the States

Visitors from those countries just need a machine-readable passport to enter the United States. The B-1 or B-2 visas fall into the Travel Visa category, they are visas for temporary visitors, either for business-related reasons or just for pleasure that leave the United States again after a certain amount of time. A Travel Visa for tourists is just that – not a permission to take up a paid job. In order to work in the United States one needs to apply for an American Green Card, the permission to stay and work in the US for as long as someone chooses to.

Travel visa versus Green Card

The Green Card can be applied for through an official process or by entering the American Green Card Lottery, accessible for everyone. But a Travel Visa is an excellent chance to discover the American continent and to find out if one wants to come back to live there permanently.
