First of all, you will need a working visa or a usa green card. In order to receive a working visa for the usa, you usually need an employer up-front and you need to fulfil certain criteria. If you apply for the usa green card on the other hand, you only need to have a certain level of education which is comparable to the US high school diploma. The second requirement is that you have to be born in a country, which is eligible to participate in the green card lottery.

Once you have handed in your application for the usa green card you have to wait until the winners are notified. The notifications will be sent out between May and July of the following year.
If you are notified as a winner of the usa green card lottery, you have to fill out some papers and sent them to the Kentucky Consular Center. After that, you have to wait again until you will receive your invitation for the usa green card interview. You have to prepare some papers and when you go to the interview at the US consulate in your home country, you have to present the papers and pay the fees. If the interview was successful, you will receive your passports back together with a valid us visa. Within six months you have to travel to the US in order to activate your us green card and from now on, you will be treated as a permanent resident of the United States of America.
