H-1B Figures for the New Season

UCSIS published the new H-1B figures for the Fiscal Year 2012 on April 18th, 2011. Effective April 1st, 2011 The US Immigration Agency is accepting new H-1B petitions. For every US fiscal year, starting on October 1st and ending on September 30th, 65,000 H-1B Visa (“regular cap”) are available. Moreover, there are additional 20,000 H-1B Visa for individuals who got their master’s degree in the USA (“master’s exemption cap”).

The current application season enables workers to begin their job from October 1st, 2011 at the earliest. Thus the H-1B Visa (as a work and residence permit) enables also US companies to employ foreign workers who have at least a bachelor-degree (or equivalent).

To date, only 7,100 regular H-1B Visa (out of 65,000 possible ones) and approximately 5,100 H-1B Master Cap Petitions (out of 50,000 possible ones) have been filed. Still, we would recommend all potential applicants to file the documents as soon as possible.
