What are the requirements for persons with exceptional abilities?

Persons with exceptional abilities in business, science or arts may qualify for the EB-2 immigration visa even without an advanced degree.
"Exceptional abilities" means a level of expertise that is well above average but not quite as high as the extraordinary abilities required for the EB-1.

The regulations include a set of criteria, at least three of which have to be met:

  • a degree, diploma or certificate in the respective area
  • at least 10 years of experience in the occupation
  • a license or certificate for the profession
  • a salary appropriate for a person with exceptional ability
  • membership in a professional association
  • official recognition for achievements in the field and own contributions to the field
  • or other evidence demonstrating the applicant's exceptional ability
