People with extraordinary abilities in the fields of art or the motion picture and television industry can apply for the O-1B visa. Evidence for extraordinary abilities can be the nomination for or receipt of international awards (e.g. Academy Award, Emmy, etc.).

Another way of qualifying for the O-1B visa is to submit evidence for at least three of the following:

  • National or international recognition for achievements in the field
  • Performance in a lead or starring role that has received positive reviews from organizations and establishments of distinguished reputation
  • Evidence of commercial or critically acclaimed success in the field
