If you are a frequent-traveler to the USA, then you will be happy to know that applying to a Trusted Traveler Program has gotten easier.
On October 1st, 2017, The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) introduced a new Trusted Traveler Programs website. This new, user-friendly website can even be used by people traveling visa-free with an ESTA under the Visa Waiver Program.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) offers low-risk travelers who are pre-approved to enter the USA more quickly by letting them use specified lanes and kiosks. People traveling from certain countries can apply for this expedited clearance by becoming a Global Entry member. This includes people who are traveling to the USA with an ESTA under the Visa Waiver Program as well as green card holder.
In addition to the Global Entry program, other Trusted Traveler Programs include:
- NEXUS (for travel between the U.S. and Canada)
- SENTRI (for travel into the U.S. from Mexico via land)
- FAST (for import commercial shipments between the USA, Canada and Mexico)
On October 1st, 2017, U.S. authorities launched their new and more user-friendly Trusted Travel Programs website. This new website makes it easier for Trusted Traveler Program members to manage their memberships and for future ones to apply. The former Global Entry Enrollment System website for Global Entry members is no longer accessible and visitors will be redirected to the new website.
In addition to the 7 million people already enrolled in a Trusted Traveler Program, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection receives around 17,300 new applications a month. The new website reflects the administration’s need to manage existing and new members. New website features include:
- Simplified use of the Trusted Traveler Program through increased usability and accessibility of the CBP website
- Website navigation has been simplified
- Mobile-friendly design so you can access the website anytime and anywhere
- You can create and manage your account easily
- There is an option to reset your password
- Schedule your interview appointment quickly with an easy-to-use function
The new website is designed to handle the influx of Global Entry members. So why not take advantage of this new website and skip the long lines the next time you fly to the USA.
If you are already a member of a Trusted Traveler Program, then you must have a Login.gov account to access your membership account. Visit the website and click on the “Manage my Membership” button. Here you can transfer your information to the new system using your PASS ID or membership number after being redirected to the Login.gov website. Once the new account has been created, members can log in over the Trusted Traveler Program website and carry out the following actions:
- Activate their Membership Card
- Update their passport information
- Renew their membership online
- Apply to replace a card
- Apply to another program
If you are a completely new applicant, then the new website makes applying for a Trusted Traveler Program easier. The first step to applying is creating an account. After you have completed this first step, you can start a membership application.
Applicants with the status “conditionally approved” and those who are waiting for their interview appointment can transfer their data to the new system. The account on the new Trusted Traveler Programs website must be created before the interview appointment so that CBP can complete your application over the Trusted Traveler system. New applicants can access the following data over the new website:
- Continue with an incomplete application
- Schedule an appointment online
- Check the status of their application
It does not matter if you are traveling to the United States with an ESTA or a Green Card, if you meet the criteria, you can enter the USA more quickly under a Trusted Traveler Program. Visit the new website now and found out if you meet the criteria for expedited U.S. border processing!
