THE AMERICAN DREAM Logo

In the United States you can do close to everything just staying in your car. 24th July honors this phenomenon with the "National Drive Thru-Day". This holiday was first introduced by the fast food chain JACK IN THE BOX®!

Jack in the Box is regarded as the first fast food restaurant with drive-thru and created the National Drive-Thru day in order to express America’s appreciation of the availability of convenient meals, easy to pick up by car. Jack in the Box went down in the American history as one of the pioneers of the fast food movement. About 85% of customers place their order at a Drive-Thru.

The first store opened in 1951 in San Diego, California. Back in those days a burger did not cost much more than 18 cent. Prices of which we can only dream today – Although fast food prices in the States are still a lot lower in comparison to prices in Germany.

Nowadays Jack in the Box is present in more than 20 U.S. States as well as Guam, which is U.S. territory. Especially the U.S. soldiers stationed there happily welcome American fast food products. In 2003 Jack in the Box also took Qdoba Mexican Grill® under its wing and is therefore present in more than 45 U.S. states as well as Canada.

“Jack Box” is the official mascot of Jack in the Box. However, Jack is more than just a mascot, instead he has his own entirely fictional biography and a “valid” driver's license.

No. 1 of the most popular Jack in the Box products is the Jumbo Jack®, since 1971 known as the biggest burger of all American fast food chains. Other favorites are the Sourdough Jack®, the Ultimate Cheeseburger, the 100% Sirloin Burger and for desert the Real Ice Cream Shake with cream topping and cocktail cherry. Unlike most other fast food chains Jack in the Box serves breakfast all-day, always true to their slogan: Breakfast served all day every day! When it comes to breakfast the favorite is clearly the Breakfast Jack® Sandwich, introduced in 1972.

Jack in the Box is famous for its promise to always freshly prepare their food right after the order was placed, which means that extra attention can be paid to special requests such as low-carb versions without burger bun or maybe your favorite sauce. Just like the Jack in the Box slogan, that goes: "We don't make it 'til you order it".
